Since 1981, the FDS philosophy has been to offer professional and ethical services to prospective and established franchisors and prospective franchise owners. The seven divisions of Franchise Development Services are readily available for all existing and prospective bfa members to benefit from.

These are:

  • Services to International Franchisors – British brands planning expansion into European and international markets.
  • Services to Established Franchisors – These range from a Franchisor Health Check covering the 21 essential areas of a genuine business format franchises through to FranMatch ® which helps with national and international franchise owner recruitment.
  • Services to Prospective Franchisors – Many franchisors, banks, lawyers and accountants receive enquiries from owners of successful businesses considering franchising their business and FDS welcomes these important introductions.
  • Publications – The Franchise Magazine is now available both in print and online versions. For bfa members seeking continual high calibre prospective franchise owner applications, this publication produces the very best return on investment. Latest initiatives ensure that franchisors can benefit from weekly promotions. FDS also publishes The UK Franchise Directory, Irish Franchise Magazine, Scottish Franchise Magazine, Franquicias y Negocios in print and online versions.   • Services to Prospective and Established Franchise Owners – FDS provides free advice and guidance to people before they make their final decision to proceed with any franchise opportunity.
  • Seminars and Exhibitions – FDS endeavours to attend every franchise and business opportunity expo in the UK so it can promote the benefits of expansion of a business by franchising and the benefits of owning and operating a franchise.
  • Ancillary Services – FDS works with selected companies offering products and services from territorial mapping, advertising and PR, logo creation and design, training and promotional videos.

 Many bfa members benefit from the annual FDS health check service, which reviews every area of the business and any attendees at the 2010 bfa conference will benefit from a £500 discount voucher valid for the next six months. This service involves two bfa affiliated consultants and takes up a whole day analysing and reporting on the best way to further develop any given franchise brand.

FDS welcomes new ideas and initiatives from its clients that they believe will ensure the benefits of franchising are brought to the attention of the media, politicians, Government organisations, chambers of commerce and every other organisation that needs to better understand how franchising can be at the forefront of creating genuine "green shoots" throughout all sectors of business in Britain.
